Fellow DUer's, my Dad had a heart attack last night,
Edited on Tue Nov-02-04 08:38 PM by AFSCME girl
He is in CCU in Windsor Regional Hospital. (He and my Stepmom live in Windsor, Ont.). He is doing well, and is set to have an angiogram in two days to determine the amount of blockage. He just turned 79 back on October 8th. :scared:

I also feel bad cuz I couldn't volunteer as an Election Challenger today for Kerry/Edwards. :(

On Edit: You guys are SO awesome! I will give my Dad and Stepmom all of your good wishes. He felt bad, too, that I couldn't work at the polls today. He's a lifelong Republican that voted for John Kerry by absentee ballot this time around!

Love,
AFSCME girl

1. I'm so sorry to hear this
I hope all goes well for him. Don't worry about your volunteer work - believe me, everyone understands. Family is the most important thing.

You take care of yourself, and so sorry for your dad.

6. Best wishes for your Dad's quick recovery
I lost my father to heart disease 2 years ago and I know what you're going through. He passed away in the Cleveland Clinic after a long stay there. He was only 63. Don't feel bad about not being able to volunteer, your moral support is appreciated.

13. Oh honey, I'm so sorry
My Dad, 78, is recovering from illness too. It's been tough waiting here by the phone instead of using it for GOTV calls.

You take care of yourself and we'll send prayers and good thoughts your Dad's way.

25. I am sorry to hear about your father. My dad had CHF and we . . .
had to rush him to the ER where they intubated him and he was being bagged until they could get him hooked up to a respirator. That machine kept him alive until the next morning. Thank God he survived. He is 75. He is home now on home oxygen and probably will be on home oxygen the rest of his life.

This happened a couple weeks before the election. When we did not know whether he would be able to get off the respirator and breathe on his own, I told my mother (75 also), I knew daddy was going to make it because there was no way in HELL he was going to miss this election.

My dad usually helps give people rides to the polls if they do not have any other type of transportation. This time he was unable to because he would be too tired.

My dad has been a yellow dog democrat his whole life.

I have been a lazy Democrat. Not anymore. I have a goal for 2008 and it's called Hillary Clinton. That is . . . if this country is still standing after four more years of Bush/Cheney/Rove/Ashcroft/Rice/Powell/and other war criminals.

I live in the south, Virginia, Jerry Falwell's state. I already have some evidence against this supposed "Christian" who has made the statement that he wouldn't give a "liberal" a drop of water even if they were dying of thirst." No joke. He said that during one of his Old Time Gospel Hour Shows. You know, I have never heard him preach (well he did preach one day about tithing); however, every week this man's supposed serman turns political. He thought he was using a "code" when he would tell them, during his every Sunday Serman to vote "Christian." Then he would explain that voting "Christian" is voting Pro-life, Pro-family, Pro-Church, Pro-God. He has made statements to the point of Democrats cannot be Christians because we want to kill babies. They do not understand the difference between pro-choice and pro-abortion. I could never do it, but the government has no place in a womans uterus.

I have so much more evidence I have saved and I'm going to start a site and my whole site is to prove that Falwell is promoting the Republican Party and, therefore, the IRS should come a knocking. He has even stood up and said he was not afraid of the IRS. I have always felt Churchs should pay taxes. Really, I mean who knows how much money goes in what pocket. I always am suspicious of a preacher, like Falwell, living better then their flock. Now Falwell did start Liberty University, he has done a lot of good with his church. I have to give the man that. As a matter of fact, they are building a brand new, 4-million-dollar (or more, not quite sure) chappel.

I do not understand why they need this 4-million-dollar chappel when they have a huge, beautiful, like brand new one now. Couldn't those millions be used in a better way? Just wondering out loud is all.

I should have come out sooner with the information; however, I just started following him this past October when I read a story. But give me four years.

One more thing please. I live in the South, I live in Virginia, and I wish the rest of the Country would not blame ALL of us into one group of supposed uneducated, redneck, evangelical, bible thumping idiots. Yes, the majority of them are, but I was almost proud to see that Virginia was close to giving our electorial votes to Kerry. We do have a Democratic Governor. I thought we had some hope but I guess I was wrong.

Bush better watch his P's and Q's. Our Dems in the House and the Senate better be on his ass on every little thing he does.

Last but not least, I cannot BELIEVE Tom Daschle was thrown out. After 26 years????????? Seems strange to me.
