How I know that I lived in NYC for a long time
I kept running into people wearing costumes, including one nice receptionist dressed up in a full scale witches' outfit, on Friday and Saturday in the new city in which I live.

And so how do I know that I lived in NYC for a long time? Because not a single costume phased me, not once did I think "Oh, nice Halloween costume", and it actually took me a while to realize that those people were a) wearing costumes and not their normal dress, and that b) they were doing it because it's Halloween.

:-)

1. I watched the NYC Halloween Parade last night....................
(channel inHD1) it was FANTASTIC. There had to be several hundred thousand people taking part in the parade and some of the costumes were off the hook. They only covered 1 hour of it, there was at least 1 hour to go when they changed programming. It was second only to Mardi Gras is my opinion. I'm going to have to visit NYC next year and catch it live, it was AWESOME!

3. Thanks! And I miss NYC
Most times, not so much, but whenever I see NYC on the TV or in a picture... then I really miss it.

I long for the variety of people, watching guys pee on the subway tracks, stepping over people poop, the sights and the sounds and the foods and just walking around marvelling at all the stuff...

but on the other hand, it's nice to be some place quiet, with no salsa or hiphop music blasting me from every direction, where I can see the sky (though it's rained for 2 weeks, so not much of that) and the air is fresh and store clerks actually say hello and how are you doing and actually tell you how much your purchase costs instead of standing there, expecting you to read their minds and just know, somehow, how much money you owe them.

8. Hey - this is a FAMILY VALUES country
There will be no hand holding before marriage.

And after marriage, there will only be handholding with someone you aren't married to, and only then if you intend you divorce your spouse when he/she gets cancer or otherwise is no longer beneficial to your political career.

Oh, wait - sorry. I'm reading from the Republican playbook.

My mistake. Thought I had the Democratic one.

Go ahead and hold hands, then.

:P

7. Felt the same way on South Street in Phila Saturday night.
Couldn't tell if people were in costume or just their normal gothic selves.
