Who will be President Bartlett's new Vice President?
Vice President Hoynes resigned at the end of the last season, which I'm sure will make everybody here happy, as he was a DLCer. Any thoughts as to who President Bartlett will appoint to the vice presdiency? I tend to think it will be Chief of Staff Leo McGarry, with Josh Lyman being promoted to Cheif of Staff, and it will all be a done deal by the new season's start.

2. There was speculation it would be McGarry last season

But this would be a great opportunity for them to bring in another high profile Hollywood liberal, maybe Warren Beatty? Or better yet a woman! That would be great, maybe a Calfornia Diane Fienstien type? Played by who, though?

3. Sally Field
She does regular appearances on ER. She did a television show that was cancelled on the Supreme Court. I think she would be great and is probably available.

5. It would be the right thing to do...
...signifigant representation of the majority of Americans who aren't white males anyway. Could be a bellweather too ;)

7. Maybe John Goodman will refuse to relinquish
And they'll have an unelected Republican in the White house.

Hey, if it could happen in reality, it could happen in TV-Land.

8. Something like that....
I think, is going to happen. After the way he was portrayed coming in (strutting around issuing whacko orders before he was even sworn in), it's clear that his character isn't going to let go easily.

John Goodman is the right actor for the role (can you say Newtie? Would you want to?), although I can't imagine that he likes being THAT much of a bad guy.

10. It might also put an interesting spin
on why Sorkin and Schlamme aren't willing to write for the show this upcoming season.

You have to admit, with no sitting vice president and a staff that serves only at the pleasure of the president (whomever that may be) it would be fairly easy for the right kind of political bully to step up.

I'd be interested in finding out what kind of real-life parallels they could draw. I mean, -would this same Republican be ultimately responsible for Zoe's kidnapping?
