The thing I hate about DU lately is there's no conversations WITHIN threads...the minute a news cycle hits there's 500 threads on the same topic with one or two posts in them! It is going to be SOOOO annoying on the 2nd.

hi. sorry for such a lengthy post! i like to make sure esp online that i communicate in full. sorry its this full!

in recognition that youre an established, intelligent duer, i would like your opinion on this situation
i know exactly what youre saying about multiple duplicate posts, and the related frustration that is sure to come on november 2. man, the debates gave me a good idea of whats in store and so i asked skinner about this idea:

in addition to the separate threads as outlined by skinner in his "du plan for election night", i asked him if we could also have threads regarding the cable and network channels. because i know we are bound to have umpteen threads about "tweety" or quick! turn on cnn, complete with little accompanying information! and the sheer amount of threads that are started and never seen, or the duplication of threads can be overwhelming on that scale that were going to see on election night

that way, those of us who cant watch 8 channels at the same time can find out what and who... those who want to focus on one or two channels have that option (because we can read up on the threads if were interested), or if youre watching a specific channel you can join in on a conversation of sorts with those watching the same channel. i dont want to get too uptight with this of course and i know there will be many other threads going on but maybe this gives some framework?

for me i would like to take it all in so this provides a certain organization to the board that would be helpful for me.

does that sound like something you would like to see? please lay it out honestly because i just want the experience to be a good one. were all in this together...

the one hesitation that skinner had was would it be too much work for the moderators? i threw out there that possibly there could be temporary mods assigned to this only,,, im just throwing things out and wondering if anyone else is interested but he thought it could work and would get back to me

12. I think it's a great idea and if we REALLY used the forums as they were

designed, they could all be in the media section..reason being...the threads will fill and lock as fast as you can say BOO and will end up being archived before the end of the night in the regular large forums...

I agree...on debate night..threads started at 6 were in the archives by 8 PM.
