BTW, how did you get on Scrap Heap Challenge? I thought thought they only accepted applications from British teams, and put the Americans on Junkyard Wars.

13. We got on before they had the american show.

Friends tipped me off about the show, I watched an episode they sent me from the UK, and ten minutes into it, said "I have to do this". Tracked down the production company, gave them a call, and asked if they would mind a US team applying. They said they weren't sure if they could cover the plane fare I said we wouldn't let that get in the way (they did decide to cover it in the end).

RDF sent me the forms, I pulled a team together, we made an audition tape, and I took the subway over to the FedEx office. (as the deadline turned out to be two weeks away when I first called, and it took 10 days for the forms to arrive). A month later, they called and said "you are on the short list, here is how the long audition works". We did it via webcam. Another month later, and we got the nod.

Worked out well, (except for the TV production types, who had some extra agenda's) We made it to the final, which was further than we were supposed to get (part of the agenda - UK never had the game show hearings...) Our shows pulled higher ratings in the UK, than any of the UK teams only shows (including the grand final).

I entered the halloween contest and work and the president of the company didn't know who I was.

and the boss goes "I have no idea who that is."

and some people cheered and i said "wicked. big up yourselves."

I didn't win, but people who know who he is thought it was great.
