9. Yes, but that is not the correct answer because they are
not technically competing against one another equally - the team is comprised on one man and one woman - same as pairs figure skating. This is a sport where it doesn't matter your gender

13. men and women used to compete
Edited on Fri Oct-29-04 11:15 AM by VelmaD
as "equals" in the pistol shooting events...until the women started winning medals and then they separated the genders. :eyes:

They also competed as "equals" in one of the first World Figure Skating Championships...but when a woman came in 2nd they banned them for several years and then started having a separate "ladies" event.

15. I didn't know that! I love the history of the Olympics -
It's a shame it's become so commercialized.

18. It's not only dressage
but the other equestrian sports, show jumping and three day eventing, where women compete with men.

Women were not allowed to ride in the Olympics till I believe the 60's. That being said, civilians couldn't ride either until the 50's. The first woman I can remember riding was Marian Mould on Stroller for the 1968 British show jumping team.

In Barcelona, the US show jumping team was compromised of women only :)

19. That's my answer and I'm sticking to it!
That's what it says on the trivial pursuit card - isn't that authoritative? Just kidding - thanks for the clarification. I thought it was only dressage.
