What was your most memorable (in a good way) presidential election?
I mean ones that you were able to vote in.

Mine was my first: Helping to boot out George Sr.

A bunch of us sat in our dorm's lounge watching the results come in (there was one repub in the room out of about 50) and everyone booed when NC came up repub.
When the clinching state came up for Clinton, the whole room erupted.

Those were some good times!

1. The first memorable one was my first election.
Voting for Jimmy Carter in 1976.

The other one was 1992. I literally couldn't wait to go to the polls to vote for Bill Clinton. 1992 was an election I was really enthusiastic about.

1976. The first year I was eligible to vote. The country just emerging from Vietnam and Watergate. Jimmy Carter elected. A sweet victory for the forces of good.

2. My first, too --
Labor's one-dollar-a-plate red beans and rice dinner for Lyndon Johnson, in Baton Rouge, LA, accompanied by my dad the union goon.

They raised the money on the Budweiser -- it was 50c, an exorbitant price in themdays. And they sold a lot. Every radio available was tuned to the LSU-Kentucky game. LSU kicked some bluegrass butt.

And our guy won in a landslide.

4. My first one is the same
I was at Mississippi State University with a bunch (not all of them) of right wingers. It was great watching the results come in, especially when Bush I got some low electoral vote state and they would all cheer. I just stayed quiet and gloated with my SO who was from Arkansas.

This doesn't count but when I was in 1st grade our school had a mock election. My dad told me if I voted for Regan I would get "five across the lips" (joking, he didn't really hit us). I don't think I voted for Carter, who else ran?

8. Thanks for the list
Now I remember it was Anderson because I took a caligraphy (sp?) class from a woman whose last name was Anderson so I assumed they were related so he must be really nice. I was 6, the world was very small, I never REALLY voted using that kind of thinking.

7. this one
Exactly one week before election day, we finally recieved the call to rush to the hospital, they had a kidney and pancreas waiting for my husband for transplant! He will probably still be in the hospital on Election Day, but we had the foresight to have both already voted by absentee ballot. (Before the operation, he mentioned that was one less thing for him to worry about!)

So the moral of the story is, VOTE EARLY!!! (and VOTE KERRY!)
