Gay Canadians, statistically speaking...
Edited on Thu Oct-28-04 10:13 AM by chiburb
The average household income of respondents was $72,800 -- about $25,000 more than Canada's average household income. And the fact that 84 per cent of respondents don't have children means they have more time to consume, said Dino Bertucci, the marketing and sales manager for Xtra, which commissioned the study. Xtra bills itself as Canada's gay and lesbian media group; 95 per cent of respondents identified themselves as gay, lesbian or bisexual.

Respondents were also well-educated. About 55 per cent of respondents had at least one university degree, compared with 30 per cent among the general population.

Income and education statistics are likely skewed by the fact that respondents were concentrated in three of Canada's largest cities. But Mr. Bertucci said household incomes among respondents were still $10,000 higher than among the general population in Vancouver, Toronto and Ottawa.

In addition, 46 per cent of respondents identify themselves as trend-setters and 79 per cent say friends and family seek out their advice on purchases.

(What REALLY jumped out at me was that 16% appear to have children. What would you guess the U.S, percentage to be?)
