Bumperstickers epitomize Republicanite hypocrisy

Just came back from the supermarket, where I saw a car bedecked with Bush/Cheney signs. Now that's unusual in my solidly DFL neighborhood, but as I got closer, I saw that there were other signs, so I decided to take a closer look.

In the left rear window was a hand-lettered sign that read, "HAVE A HEART: VOTE PRO-LIFE." In the right rear window was another hand-lettered sign that said, "WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?"

Okay, I thought, we have a single-issue voter here. Then I saw the other two signs on the bumper:

"If you can't feed 'em, don't breed 'em" and

"Stop tailgating or I'll flick a booger on your windshield."

Thinking of Sign #1 and Sign #3, as well as Sign #2 and Sign #4 in tandem, I couldn't help laughing out loud.

"But Oregon will never run out of trees, because the companies are planting new ones all the time."

"So," I would say, "why don't they log the plantation trees instead of the old growth?"

"Oh, but the wood from the old growth trees is of better quality."

"But what are you going to do when the old growth trees are gone?"

"But Oregon will never run out of trees, because the companies are planting new ones all the time..."
