BWAA-HAAA-HAAAA Bogus Bush Bucks

Bush on a bogus bill
This counterfeit $200 bill was used to buy $150 in groceries and get $50 in change at a grocery store in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. The bogus bill bears the image of President Bush on the front, the White House on the back and is marked as a "moral reserve note."

2. Don't worry...
That joker won't be laughing when the feds show up at his door with a pair of handcuffs! The govt takes little things like counterfeiting very seriously, to say the least.

3. Interesting point: Is it counterfeiting?
It's not an attempt to duplicate U.S. currency.
There is no $200 bill.
Maybe it's fraud, but I don't think it's counterfeiting.

I have a few "joke" million dollar bills. They are the same size and color as our currency. Very "official" looking. A few months ago I gave one to the grocery store cashier. She looked at it and, in total seriousness, said "I can't break this."
Oh my.

4. legally, it is counterfeiting
counterfeiting is the act of trying to pass off as currency anything that is not legitimate currency.

it doesn't have to be a "good" replica, although the worse it is the more likely you won't get past the cashier. in a case like this, it's possible that the perpetrator intended it as a joke, thinking that surely the cashier would catch it and they'd have a good laugh and he'd pay with real money. but when the cashier just took it as real, he probably just shrugged and took the money and ran.

either way, it's counterfeiting, though he might get a more lenient sentence if he did intend it as a joke.

you can get "bush bills" on line easily, they're intended as a joke.
