Let's all thank Canada for something.
No one ever thanks our awesome neighbors to the north for anything, so a big thank you to Canada for:

Turning the United States on to hockey.

and Rush, who is almost good enough to offset the malice inflicted upon the world by Bryan Adams and Celine Dion.

And of course my favorite beer drinking brothers.

9. As a Canadian citizen living in Seattle, you're welcome, but...
What about the many other things such as Mike Meyers, Nickleback, Kids in the Hall, Bare Naked Ladies, Jim Carrey, John Candy (there's a whole list of canadian comedy entertainers), gravy and cheese fries, and I could go on, and on, and on, but you're especially welcome for Pamela Anderson.

We pay about $2.70 a pound here, when we can find it.

Last time we were in BC we paid about .99¢ a kilo and we
brought back about 360 tons of it...(well, maybe a little less).

15. Thanks for my dog!
My dog, Casou, was born in Quebec. He spoke only French until he moved in with us. He's a Coton de Tulear and his WONDERFUL breeder, Suzanne, is worried sick about the USA. She and most Canadiennes (and their spouses) are tres anti-Bush. She is always sending me some Bush Bashing email or other. She is great!

So, thank you Canada, for my dog and my new friend(s) in Quebec!

I'd post a picture of him, but I have not been able to figure out how to do that post-a-picture thing... duh.

26. Right ON, Fenris!
i haven't been here in a couple days, and was pouring through some front-page threads.
i saw this one and was checking to see if anyone else mentioned what I am most thankful to Canada for ---

NEIL! :loveya:

When I was a young boy,
My mama said to me
Your daddy's leavin' home today,
I think he's gone to stay.
We packed up all our bags
And drove out to Winnipeg.

When we got to Winnipeg
I checked in to school.
I wore white bucks on my feet,
When I learned the golden rule.
The punches came fast and hard
Lying on my back
in the school yard.

Don't be denied, don't be denied.
Don't be denied, don't be denied.
Don't be denied, don't be denied.

Well pretty soon I met a friend,
He played guitar.
We used to sit
on the steps at school
And dream of being stars.
We started a band,
We played all night.

Don't be denied, don't be denied.
Don't be denied, don't be denied.
Don't be denied, don't be denied.

Oh Canada
We played all night
I really hate to leave you now
But to stay just wouldn't be right.
Down in Hollywood
We played so good

The businessmen crowded around
They came to hear the golden sound
There we were on the Sunset Strip,
Playing our songs
for the highest bid.
We played all night
The price was right.

Don't be denied, don't be denied.
Don't be denied, don't be denied.
Don't be denied, don't be denied.

Well, all that glitters isn't gold
I know you've heard
that story told.
And I'm a pauper
in a naked disguise
A millionaire
through a business man's eyes.
Oh friend of mine
Don't be denied.

I wouldn't have made it through the past 3 1/2 years without it. Let's hear it for the NTV oddball-ness, while we're at it.

On edit: thanks for being (for a long time) the only North American venue for F1, too, by the way. We always looked forward to the annual Montreal visit.

32. Bell ExpressVu = great
NTV is by far the strangest TV station I've ever experienced. (I live in NL, so I'm very familiar with it.)

The best is when Geoff Sterling (the dude who owns the station) is on just talking late at night with all kinds of weird pychadelic shit behind him.
