as a shadowy figure appearing to Jesus and Mary (seemingly), but apparently not visable to others. Demons appearing to Jude were interesting too, but more could have been done with that.
The Last Temptation of Christ was a better movie, IMO.
because of that 'fly on the wall' aspect the critics talk about. I love historical dramas that make me feel as if I'm really there. I also heard there were some good performances--the mother Mary, for instance. As far as the Jesus torture goes--I really don't want to see that.
5. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.
Although it did have some "Forrest Gump" moments. Particularly when Jesus "invented" the table that you sat at and also when he wiped his face and created the Shroud of Turin.
It did cause me to go back and re-read Matthew in the Bible and it stuck pretty close to the story. There were things that didn't happen. Like when they threw Jesus off the bridge. That seemed designed to anger people. I thought it served no other purpose.
I didn't really see the charges of anti-semitism because it made the Romans look just as bad as the Jews.
