Mary Kay Letorneau on CNN now
and you know, she just didn't know having sex with a student who was about 13 was a felony. SHe just didn't know this was a crime. She was a teacher and was 34 and had 4 kids. Gimme a break. Her old man was doing this crap too when she was a kid.

1. Sick
She is one sick person. I can't believe she's free already - she raped a child. Making it worse was that after she served her slap-on-the-wrist sentence, she got out and did it again to the same kid. It just kills me that a serial child-rapist like her is free. If there was ever a "throw away the key" situation, this was it.

GRRRRRRR

2. She is in dire need of therapy
I've never seen someone so deep in denial. I also wish she'd quit with the hand-wringing bit-I have to stop watching!!!!

5. she just said she was taught how to handle sex aggression
by students and she didn't really handle that too well. I just love the way she downplays things. She sort of thinks these were little mistakes here and there.

7. she has to marry him
to validate her relationship, to prove she is no child molester. I feel so sorry for her children by Vili and her first husband, so much pain she has caused.

I never knew her father was a big repub mucky-muck. I found out much later after the hullabaloo had died down a little. Am I being paranoid to think that if he had a D after his name instead of an R, we would be hearing that constantly? Yes, I probably am.

10. while waiting for my allergy shot , I picked up this magazine
that had a story on her early life and her father was a real hypocrite reactionary. There were several brothers and sisters and this father of hers was having a lot of flings while Mary Kay's mom was busy at home with all these kids. I understand this father of hers was one of these types who preached a lot about family values and strong families, blah blah, blah.

It is fascinating watching her talk about this deep spiritual relationship she had with this 13 year old "disruptive" kid she would have flunked.

8. Some of the callers are as sick as she is
"Hi Mary... I want to ask you if you had a deep spiritual bond with Villi, and that's why it happenned?"

So it's OK to fuck a child if you have a "spiritual bond"??

:wtf:

12. yes, in her mind, and it shows how utterly screwed up she is
but she certainly talks calmly and normally...it is almost eerie listening to her.

9. I think she needs
a great deal more understanding than she usually gets. Someone once said something like, Mary Kay found the man of her dreams. Unfortunately, he was only 11.

To say she raped him is somewhat offensive. Certainly what happened between them sexually is not at all like rape in the normal sense of the word.

I believe she was diagnosed with some actual mental illness (bi-polar?) around all the time this happened. Needless to say, she's never received treatment. And the young man in question is not exactly a helpless victim at this point.

I wonder a lot about the karmic connection between those two.

13. Sex between an adult with a 13 yr. old is a crime by the adult
I think everyone knows this just like they know cops don't like for you to go through red lights or to crash into a cop's car while drunk driving.

I believe you are correct about the bipolar disorder. The way she talks shows she still hasn't been treated. She talks as if she didn't handle something well, she didn't know this was a felony, etc. You are not buying that crap, are you? If she were some high school dropout, maybe I would say, hmmm, maybe she didn't know, but she was a teacher and a college grad. She had to know sex with a minor was a serious crime. Even after she was in court the first time and had the court order not to see the kid, she not only saw him but had sex with him again. She knew she was breaking the law and in a very serious way and she didn't seem to give a damn shit.

15. If she has bipolar disorder
or any other diagnosable mental illness, she's not going to have the same awareness that what she did was a crime as would a "normal" person. These people have truly disordered thinking, and what she needs is help and sympathy, not condemnation and punishment.

While sex with a 13 year old male is a crime, it's not rape in the same way that an adult man having non-consensual sex with a 13 year old female is rape. I know some people with mental illness -- one has bipolar disorder and the other has schizophrenia. Neither one is good about taking medication. Their thinking can be very disordered and the connection between an act and its consequences isn't always real clear to them.

And at this point the young man is an adult. He's 21, he's spent most of his life not with her, and if he now wants to be with her and marry her, then I think we should be wishing them well, not condemning them.

11. She's on national TV AGAIN?
I'm sick of her and her story. I hope the kids have all the love and counseling they need to get them through their parents. I wish and hope her older children have had the time and the support they need to heal. I understand she has a bipolar disorder, I hope she and the young man get the help they need also. My hopes and wishes and 35 cents will buy a phone call. It would seem, she is still milking herself for whatever it's worth, and dragging everyone along with her.

14. If I were her kids I would stay away from her because she gave
them up willingly. She risked prison and lost, she risked the relationship of watching her own kids growing up for some sick relationship with this kid. I think her ex-husband was right to take the kids to Alaska and to try to start over again there as far away from the news stories as he could get.
