Manfred Mann, keyboard player of the British rock band that bears his name, was born in Johannesburg, South Africa on October 21, 1940. The group's U.S. hits included "Do Wah Diddy Diddy," "Sha-La-La," "Pretty Flamingo," "The Mighty Quinn," and "Blinded By The Light."
