3. I've done a little reading on Satanism
And it looks to me that most Satanists are just sardonic atheists. I'm sure there are a few "genuine" Satan worshippers out there, but they are just losers trying to gain personal power in a world in which they feel powerless.

22. This agrees with my experience
Satanists just do the opposite of Christians to piss them off.

4. A better question might be,
Why do people feel the need to "worship" anyone or anything?
Is reality so empty that we need imaginary friends?

18. That excuse for reality won't work anymore.
Introduce me to one single, living, human being that has suffered a "consequence" for accepting reality and renouncing childish superstitions.

We all have our right to remain as is though.

5. No, it's badly set up.

In return for devotion to Satan, you get to rot in Hell which is run by Satan.

Which, of course, is the tipoff that it isn't a real religion, just a thing thought up by people who are usually Christians.

Jews, for instance, don't split God into two parts, one good, one evil. Our God does it all which may account for Jewish humor. So it isn't really possible for us to be satanists.

But Christians have a terrible problem with evil being done by the one they worship, so they truncate his power and give all the cool stuff to Satan, making him sexy and secretly thrilling. Jesus gets to be endlessly benevolent and sympathetic, which, if you recall his hair-trigger temper when he was breathing, might not always be fun for him. Jesus never gets to be sexy. Which I think sucks.

According to the bible, he's a beautiful being. If you're in to the asthetics of the stuff. The ugly devil is a dark ages invention. Take off on Pan, and who is one of my favortie mythological Gods, and others like him/her.

That one as a Satanist would look FORWARD to going to hell, which is apparently, really easy to get into. At least, that's what many organised religions would have us believe...

You'd have a real reason for your local/national conservative/fundamentalist/right-wing/etc. fellow Americans to hate you, which is slightly better than wondering why they hate you simply because you wish for a better world.
