European Police And Ambulance Sirens Are COOL!!
I always like the "Neener" sirens better than our American "wooo-woo" sirens.

1. 'Neener', huh?
My brother and sister and I always called them 'Nernees'.

Start another poll!

European sirens: Nernee or Neener?

;-)

2. They remind me of Ann Frank

4. reminds me of an overly long not very funny joke....
A friend of mine was a saxaphone player, a very good one. He played Jazz mostly. His big problem was remembering the bridges of some songs. He could do the verses and refains with no problem, but the bridges drove him nuts. His group would be playing along and he would take a verse, but throw it over to someone else to do the bridge. Sometimes his group would be pissed with him and try to throw the lead to him for the bridge, but he would igonore them.
The last night he played the group was playing, they were in Paris the song was "somewhere over the rainbow" He had the lead, the rest of the group was ignoring him when he tried to hand it off. He played and played, he could not get the bridge, so after several verses and chorus he threw down his saxaphone, climbed to the top of a building and jumped off, all the time trying to remember the bridge to the song. Then after lying in his own puddle of blood the last thing he heard was the sound of the ambulance siren "de DE de DE de DE de..."

5. Our 'neener' sirens have now been replaced largely.
:-(

We've got the generic bloody awful American style wailing.

7. I remember the UK BleeBlaaBleeBlaa Police sirens...
..from when I was a kid. And they're sampled in so many Punk songs (like the Clash's "White Riot")--they're iconic.

6. Burnaby (suburb of Vancouver BC)...
...has shrill, vintage European sounding fire engine sirens. They're even still red!
