Boss's Day!?

What is this ridiculousness? Please explain why bosses are so insecure they need to have their own official day to gather all their "paeons" to worship how wonderful the bosses allegedly are?

Seeing balloons sprouting out of cubes that say "Happy Boss's Day!" is truly an amazing sight for me. My last company may have laid me off twice, but at least they didn't make us celebrate Boss's Day. :-)

In the past, I got the impression that "Boss's Day" was a reaction to "Secretary's Day". If that's true, it makes it even more ridiculous than it would be otherwise.
