Not that I'm a DU Freeper-hunter, but I'm always interested
when a low-post person uses the FR term "bump" instead of "kick".

Perhaps I don't hang out on many web forums, and maybe "bump" is some kind of standard.

You tell me.

1. I see bump used all the time
I wouldn't assume people using that or "ditto" (because of Rush) were freepers.

4. you say toe-maw-toe, I say toe-may-toe
Some people say teethbrush, some people say toothbrush. Some people say toss the salad, some people say (oh crap I don't know where I'm going with that). Nevermind.

Actually I think both are common -

5. I think it's silly to assume that the type of verbage used
in a post constitutes "freeper"

When I first came here, I had no idea what a "freeper" was, let alone Free republic. I could have easily "bumped" That verbage is used on alot of other message boards, not just FR.

"Ping" is Freeperspeak.

17. Ping is used on usenet all the time, it's to
attract someones attention --- to find out where they are, sort of like the ping from a sonar, or a tcp ping

21. No idea if they use it the same way, just saying don't get
scared if you visit a newsgroup and see hundreds of "pings" -- you're not necessarily in FReeperland :)

the 911 forum?

It just about the only place here where
a) the war is popular
b) killing Iraqis is a good thing, and
c) Bush policy rules.

PING!

You thought the Raelians were entertaining with their "spaceship hiding behind the comet that's going to pick us up"? You should see people argue that no planes hit buildings on 9/11 or that passengers like Todd Beamer (of "let's roll" fame) never really existed.

It's a hoot.

20. Ping is kind of wimpy, no?
I've seen bump other places... I have to say I like the action of kicking more. It's more of an active action than pinging and bumping.

Wow. I'm so clearly wasting time now :)

22. When I see "I hate shrub as much as anybody"
I countdown to tombstoning.

Not only are they trying too hard but, Molly Ivin's aside, "shrub" strikes me as practically a term of endearment.

27. I wouldn't worry about "bump". There are Freeper words though:
"Duh"
"Ug"
"D'oh"
"Killkillkill"
"goddamibrulpinkocommietraitor"
I'm sure there's others too.
