20. There aren't any
'chick flicks' or 'dick flicks'

Silly attempt to divide the genders and sell em tons of stuff they don't need.

Marketing ploy is all it is. Advertising chicanery. Pink razors or blue razors...cuz you know color makes all the difference.

These days 'Gone with the wind' wouldn't have been seen by half the country.

75. Alien!
I love flicks with strong female characters and this one wins on all counts.

I also love action flicks. I can't stand romances or "Woman Being Abused on Sunday Night TV" flicks.

Give me a woman with a gun any day.

By the way, I once read a movie critic call Alien Ressurection a chick flick. I think his definition was that any movie with three or more major female characters was a chick flick.

I love that movie. I am usually one of those people who see the flaws in continuity, character and situational development, and awkward scripting. I find it hard to lose myself in the movie because of that.

But, i lose myself in "League" everytime i watch it. Every time.

Kudos to Penny Marshall and the entire cast.

80. "Now, Voyager"
The "3-hanky movies" of the 30's & 40's speak to me more than something modern starring somebody perky. "Love Affair" with Charles Boyer & Irene Dunn was remade as "An Affair to Remember", which was referred to in "Sleepless in Seattle"--is this not symbolic of the decline of cinema? Boyer starred with Bette Davis in "All This and Heaven Too"--supreme tear-jerking.

As a non-tear jerker, but a movie dealing with emotions--would "Philadelphia Story" qualify? Despite their acrid wit, "The Women" and "All About Eve" are stories in which women move the plot.

Not that modern cinema is totally void of interest--I love "Moonstruck". And all the Jane Austen product, made for TV or not, deals mostly with feminine concerns. Although most of them miss some of Jane's sarcasm.
