Friggin' banks......
I'm on unemployment still (thanks Shrubbie!) and I have it set up to direct deposit into my bank account. I do my bills as usual, then when I check my account I see only one week of UC has deposited instead of two.

Crap.

I call the bank ASAP and tell them "hey, my direct deposit didn't happen and stuff might bounce" the lady on the phone told me if I get an overlimit fee, they'd help me out because it wasn't my fault the money wasn't in there.

I called the state UC people and they verified there was a glitch in the system, and they fixed it.

So we're Kool and the Gang, right?

Wrong.

First off, I didn't get a single overlimit fee, I got a fee for each item presented to my account while it was overdrawn for a total of $105 in fees. When you're on UC, that's almost a whole week's worth. So I call the bank, and here they can only refund *1* fee, still leaving me $70 short. This is clearly different from how it was presented to me yesterday. I was not happy, she did not care. Of course nothing can be done until managers are present, so I have to stew in my own anger until tomorrow morning.

This pisses me off. It pisses me off that my bank is so goddamn anal, it pisses me off that I got led to believe one thing but get told another thing by someone else at the bank. It pisses me off that the state can't guarantee I'll get my money when I'm supposed to. It pisses me off that I can't get a god damned job where I don't have to rebudget everything for a $70 shortage. I wish I could just say "eh, it's only 70 bucks, the hell with it", instead of having to stretch every penny till Lincoln screams.

ARGH.

2. What a bummer, dude!
Go to the bank in person tomorrow. It's harder for them to say no to your face. Just beg them "for the luv of God have mercy!"

Honestly, dude, I have always known that you get the overlimit charge on every single check/charge that hits your account. You may fare better if you just ask for mercy instead of blaming them for not informing you correctly.

Luck to you!

3. Well my previous bank
Just charged a flat fee once you went overdrawn, they didn't keep adding fees.

I'm not even accusing them of not informing me correctly. What really gets me steamed is the lady I talked to yesterday had my account pulled up and knew exactly how many fees I would get and told me she would refund it, and the lady tonight acted like a total bitchface when I told her what I was told yesterday.

If it's not their policy, fine, but don't jump all over my shit when I repeat what I was told by a bank employee yesterday.
