Washington, D.C. - In an unexpected turn of events, billionaire George Soros has tendered an offer in excess of (US)$5 billion to purchase Sinclair Broadcasting, which was accepted unanimously by Sinclair's board of directors. Chairman of the Board David D. Smith was unavailable for comment as this went to press. In addition to this stunning announcement, Soros added that daily operations would be turned over to a hastily-assembled consortium led by former Vice-President Al Gore.
At a hasily-arranged press conference Soros announced that he would assume managerial control on October 18. "We're optimistic that the transition can be accomplished by next Monday," said Soros. "Al Gore's dream of a creating a media enterprise that could challenge the dominance of conservative voices will be achieved."
Soros continued, "To counter the pervasive influence of conservative media, we will utilize the time slot that Sinclair had reserved for airing 'Stolen Honor: Wounds That Never Heal,' instead providing those households with the opportunity to view Michael Moore's 'Fahrenheit 9/11.' In the interest of fairness, we will extend to President Bush the opportunity to participate in a live telecast event so that he can provide rebuttal to any content in the movie he considers untruthful."
Soros further outlined plans for television programming from upstart liberal radio network Air America, which would be aired in prime time on all former Sinclair stations regardless of network affiliation. He had no further details concerning the Air America deal at the press conference.

Wow! Can you believe it?! Who could have expected such a turn of events? It seems the best-laid RW plans have been cast asunder. Can you imagine the howls of outrage in Freeperland, the cries of unfairness, the screams of indignity, the calls for congressional investigation...if any of this were true?
