3. Thank you, my friend! I haven't been on as much, recently, I know
I hope that situation is going to change soon. I'm not necessarily well, nor happy, but being remembered on DU like this gives me a warm feeling like no other. DU is the best and I love everybody I have met here, except that one damn Freeper that I alerted on, LOL!:D

:loveya:

6. Well, my Freeper mother is the one who's Polish,
so I'm not sure that this is the best recommendation, LOL! Also, Bush* is livid that Kerry forgot our coalition partner, Poland! I am also Irish, Dutch and English, but my mother is 100% Polish, and this is her first language. Dziekuje bardzo!:hi:

11. Yes, I know. My grandparents were well out of Poland
before Hitler and the death camps, but my parents visited them, since my father traveled all over the world. I don't think I could stand to visit them, myself.;(

Yes, Slovakia borders Poland and my grandfather also spoke both Slovak and Russian.:-)

17. Yeah but you know my grandparents still had family in Slovakia y Slovenia
I think my great grandfathers conversely spoke Polish as well as Russian and their native Slovak. I dont know really, hell Ive only seen a few photos of the one guy and of my grandpa's dad, no picture nope.

26. That's really sad, John!
I wonder if any photographs exist of them, anywhere. Maybe you could research this. I didn't know either of my grandfathers, but I've seen plenty of pictures of them. I know that I really missed out because my relatives who did know them have told me what what wonderful men that they were.;(

27. I highly doubt it
Since my granddaddy's family was poor as is. Hell I haven't even seen any pics of his brothers and sisters really. I met his one sister who before she died lived in Roanoke but other than that no one. He was the youngest. I dont know if I could research it or not, Ive tried the Social Security Death Index and Ive found family but other than that no such luck. Sigh, I'd love to know.

29. My family wasn't exactly the Rockefellers, John
We're talking poor Irish and Polish immigrants who arrived in this country with very little. And I know that my Babci continued to send money and things, like clothes, back to her family in Poland even though she came here at 15 and never saw her family again. But there are a lot of photographs. I even have a portrait of my great-grandfather from before the turn of the last century. And he was a farmer who lived out in the boonies, not far from here, LOL! I'll ask my aunt and my cousin. I know that they both visit genealogical websites.

33. It might be worth contacting them to ask them if they know if any exist
Tell them that you're interested in genealogy. My second cousin, once removed (LOL!) is into family history and I copied a photo for him of my Nana's father and his brothers and mother taken on Christmas Day 1912!:wow:

35. My Nana was a just a little girl, but she wasn't included in the photo
I'll ask my aunt and cousin if they know of any websites that could help you with this. My cousin has found all sorts of information, including the newspaper article describing my grandparents' wedding and one on the suicide of my great-grandfather's brother. He shot himself in the barn on Halloween in 1908. So, naturally, he wasn't included in the Christmas Day photo in 1912.

7. Thank you, my friend! When is yours? I'll remember.
And whatever happened with your dog adoption plans? I am totally freaking out with my two little dogs, since I took them for grooming last week and I was told that they had fleas! They have never had fleas before, ever, and I was mortified! The vet said that they are really bad, this year, since we've had so much rain, but I feel like I let my guys down, since I had no idea!:-(

so I'm not up on things and have missed a lot. I'm sure that the dog he got is really cute, as yours is. Dammit all, I wish that I didn't have to wait until the middle of the night to log on, but I hope that this will be changing soon.

12. This is not just my birthday, but my dogs', as well
A year ago, today, I adopted my dog, Sara, from rescue. She was my birthday present to me, and has been such a wonderful dog, ever since.

And when I adopted my tiny Meneken, the animal hospital had me choose a birthday for him. His previous vet knew the year, but not the day, which I can't understand, since he is such a little rare dog, but I chose my birthday, so now we share it.

So my Meneken turns 11, today, and Sara turns nine. I hate it, but we're all getting older. Here are my beloved birthday guys:

Sara

Meneken
