Did anyone watch "Desperate Housewives" last night?
Maybe it's just me, but I thought it was hilarious. I was especially amused by the gal who sneaks out of her husband's party and goes home to mow the lawn with a power mower in her tight fitting long gown (to cover up a affair she's having with the lawn guy!) Anyone else like this show?

2. My wife made me watch it. I thought I would hate it.
But I liked it. It was an actual show that wasn't Law & Order or CSI or shitty reality TV. Refreshing somehow.

9. I had to give Nip/Tuck up
Just too scary and intense for me now, though I loved the earliest episodes in the first season.

I wasn't going to watch it but I couldn't find anything else to watch. I'm glad I did because it is hilarious.

7. I liked it too
The mowing the lawn scene was hilarious. The sinister ending at the end was a little bit of a cliche for me, but I have an open mind.

loved it--chick shows--it's a gay thing really! Hot for the Latino husband though--saw his cute rear-end on Six Feet Under episode on season 2. I'm in lust--aaaaahhhhh!

13. I loved the scene of the woman going into the swimming pool
at the memorial service to get her 3 boys out of it.

I have one son that doesn't listen and do what he is told, I can't imagine having three. I was cheering her on, make those boys listen to you. LOL

It wasn't at all what I expected. I am sure I will keep watching.

14. Funniest scene (to me, anyway)
Felicity Huffman's character (four kids, no time to breathe, husband out of town), is surprised when hubby shows up. He wants sex, she tells him that the pill makes her sick so he'll have to use a condom...in the throes of passion he doesn't want to stop to get one so he tells her he's willing to take a change...she rises up and punches him in the face.

15. That was great
Also, when she's struggling with the kids in the supermarket. I also felt bad when you find out that that character left a law career and now regrets it.

18. Guilt
I thought it was interesting that she almost confesses she really doesn't like being a mother at all. I thought that little bit was unusually deep for TV.

19. It WAS unusual
Especially because the episode didn't end with her concluding, "Oh, I really do want this deep down." That's what I thought would happen. I'm interested in seeing how they'll continue to write this character.

16. Funny yes, but don't people usually get something tied
by then, especially with four kids?

That being said, I do have a friend from high school who got pregnant while on the pill. She was 42 and had twin boys!

can't wait to see the next episode. Teri Hatcher burning down that house was hilarious.

20. I AM a desparate housewife, and my review is more complex:
The mom with four kids, whose older 3 misbehave while she's holding the baby and whose husband is out of town all the time and who gave up the good career and who secretly dislikes being a stay-at-home mom but knows that's not socially acceptable to say?? Yep, that's me.

Except for that character, I pretty much hated the show, although that one character will bring me back.

Here's what's wrong with the show: nobody brings mac and cheese to adult events, nobody under 50 makes ambrosia anymore, the former model chick with the too-busy hubby who is doing her gardner is ridiculously cliched (stolen from a porn movie??) -- and the same goes for the woman who sleeps with all the men, the clothes they wear is all wrong, half of the jokes were super corny and predictable, and the whole thing is just too much what Hollywood THINKS goes on in the suburbs, maybe what happened 40 years ago, but it's not even remotely what life is like today (like that ending shot that showed the street and there's ALL this activity, whereas most suburban streets are almost always empty).

It's an interesting concept, and I think if they had some actual suburban moms as advisors (like ER has actual doctors advising), then the show might have a future. But I think it is so cliched it will quickly turn ridiculous.

Guess I'll keep watching, but I hope they bring this thing up to date some.

21. I will give it a few more eps to grow on me
last nights was good, but it has a little too much of a "soap opera" vibe for me. I sort of like the undercurrent of darkness that runs through the show though. I didn't get alot of the black humor, which is strange for me, but I did laugh when the mother of many children slugged her "Condoms? Let's risk it..." husband.

22. I watched it but I'm not sure what I think of it yet.
I did miss the first 10 minutes or so, and that might have made a difference in my opinion of the show; I felt like I was playing catch-up, trying to figure out who the characters were. But I did think some of it was funny.

The kid doing the lawn (and the housewife) was in the soap, "Passions." No wonder his character in the soap has been out of town for a long time. :-)
