Cats are definitely more popular than dogs...
Edited on Fri Oct-01-04 11:30 PM by SoCalDem
Those of you who know me, know that I am THE cat-mom of all time, and it sometimes hurts my feelings when the "dog-people" accuse me, and other cat-people of dominating the lounge..

Well..I think now, that our "domination" is deserved..

Kitty pictures go up, and before you know it, the thread has 20+ replies, and more pics posted..

I found the CUTEST puppy (you guys are always angry about the fact that puppy pics don't get posted :)..)...So I posted them and hours later, it has a measly 8 posts.. Dog people can talk the talk, but....

SO.. Attention DOG-PEOPLE...

Cats are the reigning deity here in the lounge :P

Move on....Get past it...Get over it... Move along...:)

1. All you've proven is that cat people are obsessive-compulsives
Of course, I've developed allergies to both species, so I'm probably just bitter...

One thing the allergies have taught me: goldfish just aren't very cuddly.

3. Try a Betta aka Siamese Fighting Fish
They're friendly and affectionate, you can see mine in the pet gallery. Make sure he is in a busy part of the house (ours is on the island in the kitchen), they get lonely otherwise.

5. We have two bettas and three goldfish
In three tanks. They are very pretty, and quite relaxing. And one of my bettas IS on the island in the kitchen: I'm watching him now. I never really thought about him being "friendly" before. Responsive, yes, but never "friendly." I may have to rethink this; even the goldfish appear to be happy to see me. Then again, they're just whores for food (much like poodles). I'm pretty sure that betta loves me, though, and he's lived way beyond his normal lifespan. I'm not sure how old he is, but I bought him the day my daughter went to kindergarten, she's in the third grade now, and will be devastated when he goes. Fish are just so...transient.

I keep thinking of moving to bigger, fancier fish in bigger, fancier tanks, perhaps long-living oscars, but I'm not sure that I could give them the attention they deserve.

4. So many cats................
so few good recipes. I detest the little beasts, but I'll defend your right to love them until my death! I'm a Dog person, always will be. My allergy to cats may have something to do with it.

6. That may be true here, but....
Dogs are generally considered by experts to be much smarter than cats.

Also cats are 9 times as likely to elicit allergic reactions in their owners.

That is my reason for not having a cat now...

But...

My last cat, a Russian blue, was a living poem. He could open doors, came when you called him by name, loved to be spun around in a big circle while inside a paper bag (you heard it right, he'd go right back in for another spin all on his own). When he was a kitten he used to go onto the mini golf course I lived next door to and chase the players balls around the course. They loved him. After I citified him, he would often follow me up the stairs to the el platform, waiting just on the outside of the door, watching me until it closed. Then he would watch the train depart and dash home. The riders from the trains loved him! Isaac was his name. Eventually he dissapeared. I hope he found someone else to share his abundant love with... I miss you Isaac... I love you Isaac...
