And now, a word from Jesus
being an agnostic myself, and growing up in a household with a hands-off approach to religion, i don't know a thing about it. that christian bookstore thing got me thinking...so i looked up a couple things.

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after justice: for they shall have their fill.

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.

which leaves me with this question:

HOW THE FUCK DID CHRISTIANITY BECOME SYNONYMOUS WITH REPUBLICAN?!?!?!?

1. Also, who did Jesus hang with?
it wasn't the rich and powerful.

4. actually having grown up in an extremest fundamentalist church they
really aren't very Christian at all, they spend most of their time in the old testiment...i spent 3 years in Sunday school from age 5 only studying "Revelation's".. they celebrate the Passover big time... and all the "oh Boy we get to stone a Neighbor to death Christianity".. Old Testament intolerance really gives these people a hard on.

I was psychologically abused abused and tormented, physically abused and violated during mass hands on healings... tortured being forced to "pray thru" which is a public confessional with lots of wailing and crying... if you now what is good for you.

I now at 55 suffer from PTSD from my early Christian experience's

7. Exactly
They revel in Leviticus and ignore Matthew. Their fascination with Revelation could really be a fascination with the Power of the Beast. I submmit you suffer PTSD from your early ant-Christian experiences. Scumbags.

Your story is a familiar one, which angers me all the more. Take care, Sam. Don't let the bastards grind ya down ... kick 'em right out of yer head.

5. One mystical answer ...
is that the rise of the neo-conservative movement is symptomatic of the gathering power of the anti-Christ. Hence we see those claiming to be Christian promoting policies, lifestyles, and emotional responses diametrically opposed to the teachings of Jesus. I have read a few articles which claim this is a possibility being seriously considered by certain elements of the Vatican, and the Pope is himself fairly certain of it.

Take a good look at Falwell and Ashcroft. Hey, man, I believe it. 666 is probably tattooed on the left cheek of their ass. The Pope may have a point ...

6. I haven't read my New Testament lately......
...but didn't Jesus also warn about "false prophets" and people claiming to be the savior? And didn't he make the case that the Anti-Christ would be a great deceiver, tricking people into thinking he was the way to God?

I think a case could be made that the entire right-wing American fundie movement is exactly a manifestation of the anti-Christ deceiving Christ's followers.

8. False prophets?
Like an ex-coke head cheerleading draft dodging deserter claiming he was annointed by God to lead us through these perilous years?

Yeah ... there is talk about stuff like that (false prophets) in the New Testament. Hmmm ...
