1. I know that when Letterman moved to CBS, he couldn't use the name anymore
NBC owned the trademark.

He's Calvert deForest now -- still alive, last I heard.

13. Perhaps I fell for a joke.
I seem to remember a "Late Show" from when I was able to watch it all the time where they had a "in memory of" segment on him. Letterman is enough of a smart ass to do that: God bless him.

Leonard was a semi-regular in various skits, often with Rupert. Dave did a special segment on his passing a few years back.

I named my cat after him in the 80s.

Drove my mom crazy! "I'll call that cat Larry, but I won't call him Larry Bud. What a stupid name!"

Poor Larry was not long for this world. He got hit by a car after only 2 years. I loved that little spaz.
