Poll question: POLL: Will Sky Captain Et Al be good or suck?
Edited on Fri Sep-17-04 11:44 PM by roguevalley
I am wondering about this sort of forties-ish looking show. Suck or not?
I think it looks very noir-ish and coo. BUt that might be just me. :)

2. Hard to tell. Heard it tested badly....
but Gwynnie says she's really impressed with it, certainly something she didn't have to say.

It was supposed to come out in the summer, but I think the studio figured it wasn't blockbuster--but as you said, more noir-ish and coo (love that word). I get the impression you have to like that kind of movie, and that it's not as massly attractive or they wouldn't have pushed it back so far.

I'm quite shallow in the regard that I really just adore Jude Law and when Angelina Jolie has a British accent. So I'll prolly catch it when I can (which won't be until it's on DVD).

3. It will suck--it has Gwyenth Paltrow!
This is not a slam against her or her acting, but the fact that she always tends to be in really shitty movies. Shakespeare in Love was an aberration.

4. Saw it - it doesn't suck
The Modern Library sets are great and Jude Law and Jolie are good. I'm not a big fan of Gwynnie but she's ok. It's fun. I enjoyed it.

5. The audience won't be broad
but I suspect it will have a fiercely dedicated following.

This movie could go either way. It could be nothing or it could end up reinvigorating a genre.

I'm very much looking forward to seeing it myself.

6. The critics say it's good according to rottentomatoes.com
But my inner critic detects suckage...
