1. That reeks... I have 2 purrbabies here with me now.
You might want to consider an Apt next semester. I went to NMSU w/my cat. It was almost double the rent, so I worked...It was worth it for me. Not everyone can do it (super high rents...) but look into it!

Purrrrrr...

2. I feel for you ! . . . . .
. . .I'm looking for an apartment, and a full 2/3 of the ads in the classifieds say: NO PETS!!! Well, piss on 'em. I'm not moving without Mr.Friday, my ten year old Russian Blue.:hippie:

5. As a landlady I'll tell you why that is
About 50% of the people who own pets don't deserve them. They let them crap all over the carpets, let them get fleas which get embedded into the carpets and wood, and let them run around in heat disturbing the whole neighborhood. Oh, and their dogs BARK BARK BARK all day until the neighbors are ready to kill the homeowner.

Believe me when I tell you that good pet owners are not as common as we both wish they were. That makes landladies resort to blanket policies like "NO PETS".

Offer to pay extra deposit money and talk about how you own ONE cat, have had her for years, and show her vet papers proving she's up to date on her shots and flea treatments. Many property owners will relent if they see that you are a dilligent pet owner, and that they are covered by extra deposit money. But if you move in and then spring the kitty on me, I'm not going to be nearly as understanding.

My two cents ...

4. I don't mean to be nosy, but...
where are they? Did you find a good home for them? Believe me, they miss you as much as you miss them. They didn't have a choice.

Visit them as often as you can (if you can), rotate one of your sweaty t-shirts, so they can smell you, even if you're not there (they'll curl up on your t-shirt, I can guarantee you that), then get a new place, and take them back.

This is the key: smell, smell, smell. If you cannot move, keep a bit of your smell in their new place, until they become comfortable with their new environment.

I don't mean to be harsh, but your move is just as harsh on them. Give them a hand. My true sympathy is yours. In the same spot, I would hug my pillow and sing their names to sleep.

Make the effort and be kind to your cats. It's a great comfort to do the right thing under difficult circumstances.
