free checkup at dealership...do you tip?

My car is due for the 1000 mile checkup (first two are included) and the dealer gets paid from the car company. Is it customary to tip or not? If it is, how much?

1. I'd say no

for a couple of reasons:
1) Car dealers are soul-sucking demon spawn from hell sent to plague us all
2) The dealer's getting paid
3) The mechanic is getting paid (usually a pretty decent wage, assuming they can live with the dealership's general soul suckiness)
4) Did I mention that whole soul-sucking thing?

Just don't want to look like a d-ck if everyone tips.

2. The service people at my honda dealer are not allowed to take

any tips.

When they stop charging $35/hour or more for labor, then tip. Until then, no tipping. And as you said, in this case they are getting paid by the car company. Probably getting paid fairly well too.
