Worst baseball announcer?
My choice is Rick Sutcliffe, :puke:. Boring, droning, monotone, uninteresting, who'll spend 15 minutes explaining a grip on a split finger.

1. Tim McCarver
annoying as hell. Not a fan of Joe Morgan's "broadcasting style" either - let's talk about Joe!

He and McCarver OPENLY root for the Yankees, it is sickening.

Not that he doesn't like football it's just that he has no downtime at all. I read that in an article about a year ago.

5. One of the first games I had for PS1 was his voice
My dad swears to me he heard Coleman say "Napa batting" instead of now batting, I hear he makes mistakes like "Enos Carnell started out here in Houston and before that he was with the orioles" or something like that.

I'll try to find the site that has "Colemanisms". Various examples of butchering the english language.
He roomed with Mickey Mantle.

37. Rich Folkers is throwing up in the bullpen
I always heard that as following closely on Dave Winfield's head bouncing all the way back to second, but maybe it was a doctored tape or something. If I watched Dave Winfield's severed head roll 300 feet, I'd throw up too!

Ralph Kiner has come up with some real goodies over the years, too. But I always thought of Ralph as a good-natured drunk. Jerry Coleman is just plain weird.

Anybody here ever read that book The Poetry of Phil Rizzuto?

3. Bob Costas
Even when it's not a Yankees game, it is ALL THINGS YANKEES. :puke: He not only swallows Steinbrenner's wad, he wears the remnants on his chin as a souvenir, hoping Jeter will do a reach-around for him later. :puke: Fuck Costas! He is a twit.

Ive liked Jon since he was the Baltimore aunnocer with Chuck Thompson on the radio now that was a great team, Thompson has so much history behind him, he's the guy who called Maz's game winning shot against the Yankees in 1960. Now Al Michaels :puke:, I cant stand any sport he does.

22. I like Berman as a recap/highlight person
I admit I have a weakness for his bombast and cheesy puns. Plus, he was biased for the Chargers when they were doing well a few years ago, and since most announcers only kiss the ass of the frontrunners, that made me happy.

But as an announcer, I agree he is low in my rankings. I much prefer he stick to NFL Primetime-type work. He is the Fred Flintstone of sportscasters, and how bad can that be? ;-)

27. i love fred flintstone. so yeah, lets have berman
stick to the inside of the studio. that way i can have the sound on when the playoffs start next month

you know what it comes down to? he spends so much time on these side comments and giving people ENDLESS silly nicknames that we miss part of the game as its going on or the replays

again, ill take joe morgan and jon miller. hes got a pretty cool sense of humor, but he also knows that it should be in limited amounts. so he can be silly but hes got real sense too, and he clearly encourages joe to give his good insight.

Steve Stone provides some of the greatest insight into the game of baseball in all of television broadcasting.

35. The Careys are a bad gene pool
Listening to Harry Carey was like watching your neighbor take a whiz in your kid's sandbox. I give him a lot of credit for a century of crappy baseball teams in Chicago. Skip is just boring, that's all. (The other Chicago team had some real bottom-feeders, too.)

The current radio guys for the Red Sox are a disgrace to the Gowdy/Martin/Coleman/Woods tradition. I can't even bear to listen to them.

I like Jon & Joe a lot. Agreed, Joe talks too much, but I've never heard him say anything ignorant.

For years, the Phillies have had Harry Kalas and Chris Wheeler, who are superb; so was Andy Musser, who retired a few years back. I used to listen to them up here in Connecticut when the Phillies had some brutal teams, just because they were so good. Then the franchise gutted the radio network, and I can't even hear the Phillies on the Jersey Shore.

Old Bob Murphy, with the Mets, was great to listen to. He was about as mellow as you can get -- which is kind of amazing (forgive the expression) when you consider that the team has often been pretty unpleasant.

39. Joe Castiglione and Lenny Trupiano
Castiglione was the #2 radio guy during Ken C's last years with the team. They were a good pair, but he and Trupiano goad each other into making sarcastic comments and running them into the ground. In fact, I'm not even sure if Trupiano is still there, I listen to the radio so rarely these days.

Yeah, Mel Parnell. He showed up at an "old-timers'" event a few years back and took a couple of innings at the mike. He really sounded great! I think he didn't enjoy the job all that much when he had it, and he "retired" after a few years, but now that there's no pressure, he sounded more relaxed than ever, and even more insightful.
