Ran over a Squirrel today...On my BIKE!
Just like that car insurance commercial, sucker sat by the side of the road and sprinted a bee-line for my front wheel as I passed at 18 MPH!

I got him by the tip of his tail...That was close!

Bush's Murka is so bad, even the little rodents are suicidal!

Other than that, it was a nice 25-miler in about 2 hours...

What? Well....The tyre on the bike just went "PSHOOOOOOOOOO! That's the second Conti I've had blow this Summer!

1. Squirrels are very territorial
You must have biked through it's turf.

2. Did a guy with a "Bush/Cheney 04" shirt scoop it up?
I know the dodgin' animals feeling, the quails around these parts have a suicide pact.

3. No, he high-tailed it up a tree....
I'll bet his tail is throbbing tonight. I was on the "Touring Bike" and it's NO lightweight...

4. I had a biology teacher explain to us
That the reason squirrels get hit by cars so much is that evolutionary speaking, they've developed to be more aware of other threats to their lives - predators, etc., and they're not able to see and register something as big as a vehicle bearing down on them as automobiles have only been around for just over a hundred years which is a drop in the bucket when you speak of evolution. Don't know if it's true or not, but it sounds good.

5. I don't know about that...
A car, maybe. A guy on a bicycle? Hmmmm.....
Ever "play tag" with a squirrel? They pretty much connect humans with predators.

It was uncanny. Almost as though the little guy had a deathwish. If I hadn't taken evasive action, I'd gone over his back, not his tail...

6. I worry about that crap all the time, we have suicidal chipmunks out here
also.

Not something I need to be worrying about when I'm flying down a hill at 40.
