Anyone Familiar With Donnie Darko?
Is the fact that the movie occurs in 1988 significant at all? I've never quite "gotten" this movie. Just thought that maybe the timeframe might help me.

1. There are websites and books devoted to that movie...
Just dissecting every aspect of it. Salon ran a piece a month or two ago that was huge and all encompassing in its analysis of it. Not sure if you have a salon membership or not.

I need to tackle that movie again.

2. I really didn't get it...

Only saw it once, but then again, I wasn't too impressed with the metaphysical questions of Matrix, either.

Fight Club can be a mind fuck if you let it be, tho...

3. There Are Several Movies That Are Very Popular...
that I have never quite gotten. Donnie Darko is one, .adaptation is another movie that just seems to sail right over my head. I was bound and determined to "get" Magnolia and I feel like I watched it enough times to finally have an understanding of it.

4. I thought that movie sucked
But when the dad said (to his wife) "You arent a bitch... you are bitchin'" that was funny, the rest of the movie was indulgent (not in a good way)

5. i love this movie
honestly, i didnt "get it" either till the third or fourth time i watched it. but even then, i didnt get it all. honestly rent, borrow, or steal the DVD and listen to the commentary. there is a LOT of stuff on there that will help you figure some of it out. the deleted scenes help too. if you still don't like it, hey not everyone likes everything

6. I Actually Think I Like It...
I am just trying to understand it. Just finished watching it for the second time. Trying to understand the timeline within the movie seemed to help. After I made the post I discovered this site http://www.stainlesssteelrat.net/ddfaq.htm through a link on IMDB. It was very helpful.
