With huge conglomerates having bought up 95% of all the stations, the vast majority of DJs have been replaced by network feeds, automation, and voice-tracking. What jobs remain pay shit wages and require you to babysit five or six stations simultaneously.

I saw the handwriting on the wall and got out of commercial radio in 1995. I returned to my college radio roots, where I remain to this day. It doesn't pay anything, but I have a day job that does.

The reason there are no WKRP's anymore is because everyone has to be fucking perfect now, no one can laugh at themselves at all anymore, instead we have friends-crap.

I loved Herb with his white patent leather shoes and matching belts, and Les Nessman with his imaginary office door.

Those WERE the days.
