3. Here's a few
Love, Actually
Notting Hill
What's Up, Doc?
Ghost
Mighty Aphrodite

A little alcohol plus anything with babies in it will work, too.

Horror is probably better if you just want some action, though.

42. Yeah, I didn't like it either
For one thing, it's got the "Greek chorus" - OY! Plus, when Woody Allen was in his 40's some women found him attractive in a cute nerdy way. But when he starts casting women that are 30 years younger opposite him like the age difference is a total non-issue - PUHLEEZ.

34. here's why.
True, the ending is a downer (though nowhere near as much a downer as RFAD), but the cinematography is gorgeous, lush. Use of color is beautiful. Air's soundtrack is haunting. It also moves pretty slow so they don't, ahem, have to focus so much on the movie...I haven't seen Lost in Translation yet, perhaps but hear the pluses I've mentioned go for it as well, can anyone verify?

56. I did love the movie...
It was a great movie in those respects, though I knew a few people that hated the movie solely because of the ending. Oh, and Lost in Translation is even better, watch it at night when you can really get into it.

Probably my favorite foreign film ever. I loved the whole "spontaneous combustion" thing at the end. Surreal. Talk about sexual tension (but tasteful and not too overwhelming at the same time for a first date)!

or Sea of Love.

Both have some really hot scenes, but are mysteries/thrillers too. And coincidentally, both star Ellen Barkin.

Also, 9 1/2 Weeks.

41. Hated it!
I just had to say it. I think feelings were really mixed on this film. For me, the relationship between the Indian and the nurse was the one that was interesting. Adultery just isn't romantic to me.

24. She'll see right through that crap!
Get some guy movie, something along the lines of Vin Diesel, and act like you know she's going to love it. Otherwise, you give her little to want to change about you. Two things women love: a challenge (i.e., you), and a man they can change (i.e., you).

43. I agree some what.
I would be annoyed if a guy had me watching some romantic chick flick, and I'm a woman btw. I don't believe most guys are into watching those kind of movies. You might risk seeming more feminine than the girl, especially if she hates those kinds of movies. Leave it to the girl to pick out one of those movies if she wants. You're best to pick a movie that you like. The girl obviously wants to know more about you since she accepted your invitation, so don't be afraid to express who you really are.

50. the exact term was "sexy date movie"
And a sexy date movie is a chick flick.

I realize that's a subjective value judgment on my part, but I also don't see too many women buying the idea that this guy would suggest Notting Hill, Ghost, or Say Anything for any other reason than to try to impress her.

54. That is TERRIBLE advice. Get a GOOD movie that is not a creezy
romantic comedy. God, if you played a Vin Diesel movie she'd be right to slap you then leave. Likewise with "When a man loves a woman."

Figure out how she is and what she might appreciate--Fight Club, Dr Strangelove, an Alfred Hitchcock movie, Run Lola Run, whatever. But do get an enjoyable movie both of you can appreciate that reflects well upon you.

Edited on Sat Sep-11-04 06:47 PM by TexasBushwhacker
Not the awful remake with Jack Nicholson and Jessica Lang.

"Out of Sight" with George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez - Although I'm not a J-Lo fan, I thought there were some genuine sparks in this movie.

I like romantic comedies too, so I'm adding these:

"Valley Girl" - Romeo and Juliet story with 80's music. Very fun.

"Shakespeare in Love"

"When Harry Met Sally"

"Sense and Sensibility"

33. LOVE Chocolat.
I avoided it for a long time, and I shouldn't have.
Very well acted and sexy in spots--without being hot and heavy.

The movie is NOT about the man/woman relationship though, that's a subplot. It's more about the woman (Juliette Binoche) and her effect on the town. (For those who haven't seen it)

BTW,
Welcome Talkative1 !!
