Do you use or trust PayPal?

I hate having to get Money Orders when winning ebay auctions as time is not my friend...

1. I haven't had to use them much... but I just deposited some

money in my account so I could become a paying member at the D.U.

I would say LOVE them is not the proper word... I don't distrust them is all.

I did get a notice that since I joined during a certain time frame... that I am eligable for a part of the lawsuit settlement that has been brought against them......I haven't heard anymore about that since I received an email from their administration.

2. I used to use PayPal...

and had no problems, but then they started on an obsessive anti-gun kick and barred the use of their service for firearm and certain firearm-related purchases. That was a lot of what I used their service for. So I closed my account in angry protest. (For all the good it did.)

3. "Love" might be too strong a word....

But I've used it for some time with no problem. My primary payment method is my American Express card, not my checking account. AmEx sends me a detailed statement with enough information to double-check for suspicious expenditures. Haven't found any so far.

Edited to add: I did get an email supposedly from E-BAY itself, asking me to confirm my ID information. I forwarded it to E-BAY, who confirmed it was a scam; they went after them, I didn't fall for it. It was pretty obvious.

4. I trust them, but I trust Diebold too!

not for voting (oh hell no!) But Diebold makes all the card readers on campus and in most grocery stores around here. So unless you like to carry lots of cash, you gotta use the Diebold machines.

I haven't had any problems. And once someone (or people) were trying to hack my account. They sent me a list of IP's. I promptly changed my password into something more cryptic.

6. I use PayPal to SEND money, and I trust it completely for that....

That said, I have heard horror stories about them putting holds on your bank account for no good reason if you use them to RECEIVE money.

My suggestion? Open a new, separate DDA account at your bank, just to use for PayPal transactions. At least it will help you sleep easier.
