I AM PISSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pro-Bush comments on football telecast
Edited on Thu Sep-09-04 11:00 PM by plastic_turkeys
Just now on ABC football coverage of the game at Foxboro, Massachusetts, there was a fumble and the announcer said "Now that's a flip-flop"...........and the other announcer says "Well, you're in the right state for that!"

republican. I guess this confirms that rumor. Son of a bitch.

I keep the burping and farting to a minimum though. Although I can't help myself from navel gazing.

Quite a generalization there, NSMA. Not all football fans are drunken lotharios. I expected more from you...

I didn't see anything here before starting the thread. I was absolutely seething when Michaels blurted that out. He makes an anti-Dem or pro-Rep comment seemingly every game.

19. No, that was Al Michaels being the republican he is
Edited on Thu Sep-09-04 11:08 PM by Bombtrack
using his commentating job to Bash a presidential candidate with a false unsubstantiated attack. It would be like Bob Costas making a joke about Bush being a cokehead on national television.

I admit that nobody should freak out or express "fake outrage". I'm not outraged. I'm annoyed. But ABC should hear some complaints. That's the only way we keep the corporate media on their feet from our side just a little bit.

22. I think youre way too sensitive!!!
take off the tinfoil hat. al michaels has no following whatsoever. personally, i dont even hear him when im watching a football game. ive been watching the game since kickoff, and i wouldnt have even known what he said if it wasnt for you few on DU that read way too much into every fucking thing there is. who cares about al micheals or what he says. i gaurantee that most people watching this game were in the kitchen getting a beer when he said that anyways.

i will say it again...relax heroes. not everything is political!!

25. he should be a-political
When I watch a football game I don't want to hear political campaign talking points. You are right, it not that a big deal, but a professional with Michaels' experience should know better than to potentially piss off 50% of his audience with a lame political joke weeks before a Presidential election.

44. The NFL is fairly Republican...
I saw Jason Seahorn saying the same thing at the RNC, talking about how most players he meets are Republicans cause they "typically fall more into Republican thinking on things..."

Whatever THAT is supposed to mean...

23. well this is why present day major league sports is evil
and here you have your proof that this is just another coalition of the shilling for big business and, ultimately the cheney-bush junta. you should gang email these assholes and tall them you are watching sports and they need to STFU about politics...write the sponsors too.
You know the freeps would if they said something halfway decent about Kerry or the Dems.

42. i think the essence of sports is great
i believe what you say is true...but i think i said 'present day major league sports' which is totally different from the way major league sports used to be...there is so much money thrown around, you never get to have your team for any length of time anymore, and there are still a few gentlemen left in sports, but really, a lot of these guys are seriously messed up...
I'm in Seattle and for years , before that mid 90s team we had, before Nintendo became major investors, anytime there was a glimmer of talent in a player, he was sold immediately. then we had a great team the pennant thing, and they immediately sold Tino to the Yanks...good for Tino, cuz i think the only way a Mariner can get a ring is to become a yankee...and we used to have a decent basketball team too.
