PAT Boone may be a pop culture punchline these days, but he's still a star among the silver-haired set. The creaky crooner was the featured attraction at yesterday's "Breakfast with Boone" at Studio 450, where Idaho Republican Sen. Larry Craig and about 300 senior citizen delegates basked in his presence.

"I call him the Original American Idol," said Jim Martin, president of the 60 + Association, a conservative lobbying group that's
trying to get rid of the death tax. "All the grayheads in the room just loved him."

To celebrate his 50 years in showbiz, Boone says he wants to release four albums devoted to gospel, R&B, country and pop. Asked what he wouldn't sing, Boone said in a statement, "I'm not going to do songs that call women bitches and ho's."
