Poll question: Most Overrated Band/Performer
I'm not saying that any of these bands suck in the least, just that their popularity is out of proportion to their talent/originality.

7. Oh, come on. Nirvana had more talent than all these groups combined.
Kurt Cobain was a heroin-addicted MORON, true. But he and Dave Grohl had HUGE musical talent, and were able to make the most out of the time they had together as a band. Nirvana probably did more for music in the span of three years than any other band in history could do in that same length of time. Now, that doesn't mean they were the greatest by any means. I don't think that either (My favourite group is System of a Down, and I think Hendrix was the most influential rock musician). But their dues were given because of the impact they made in the music world.

10. To each thier own.
I've been drumming for about 9 years now and never saw anything special about Daves playing. And I've been playin guitar for about a year and was playing nirvana to learn the basics.... I dunno. I just think they get way too much credit.

11. I think Chad Channing was a way better drummer, regardless.
He was the drummer from 1988-1991, right before Grohl. If you listen to the album "Bleach", you'll hear a PRODIGY at work on the drums. This guy was fucking UNBELIEVEABLE. I think it was the special way he hit his sticks onto the snares and basses, IMO. I usually listen to the Bleach CD just to listen to Channing's drumwork.

Dave Grohl would've made a better guitarist and backup singer, IMO, but I thought he was really good too, because of the speed that he could create.

14. 'Bleach' IS a gem
Thanks for pointing this out. The corporate rock suck-ups, who hate Nirvana because they knocked Poison and Bon Jovi off the charts, only know of "Nevermind", which is is AWFULLY NARROW view of their music. They brought back the garage/indie/punk ethos that was anathema to AOR radio. Of course, some in the college rock/indie crowd hated Nirvana for the opposite side of the coin: Bringing 'respectability' to their genre. You can't please everyone.

"Bleach" is their best. 14 years later, and "About A Girl" proves that Cobain, troubled soul that he was, had more catchy songwriting gifts in his little toe than 1,000 spandexed banshees with pouty lips.

6. Hip-hop is hip-hop. I'm not fond of Aerosmith, but I voted Creed.
To be more specific, Creed after their first album. I really liked theit first album, "My Own Prison". I have it, and it's pretty good. They sounded like an original hardcore, indie-style group back then. When they released "Higher", I knew that that was their end. They would never be able to go back to being a decent band. And they never did.

Remember now, Creed was a pretty good band for about 18 months in 1997-1998.

12. This was a difficult poll question
I am saying that All, in my opinion, of the above bands suck and are overblown. U2 was an exception through the Joshua Tree album. Since that album, I have lost interest in them. I know I'm a music snob, my wife tells me that all the time and I just start singing "hold my hand"......

As pretentious as the Counting Crows, but has been at it a lot longer and even more boring. Free free, set him free!

17. new write-in: Prince
Not boring like Sting, but 10,000 times more insufferably pretentious to the point of being unbearable. He wants to be Michael Jackson when he grows up.

24. I agree, he's a no-talent hack and a parasite
And he has GOT to work on closing his mouth in public--hate the way it's always hanging open slightly.

As far as most abused/wasted talent, I'd say Whitney Houston.

I like U2 but I dont have any of their stuff a couple of MP3s. I voted for Creed and while I like Nirvana ok I agree with Ein and you. Who did you pick?

Bloody Sunday good U2 song IMO one of my favorites. Makes me think of the streets of Derry on that terrible day.
