The Lounge is the Id of DU

Every so often someone has the temerity to question the level of frivolity in the lounge. Usually it is someone who simply doesn't know. Let me explain...

There is plenty of substance on DU. In fact every other forum is loaded with it. The Lounge is different. Here the goofballs have taken control, and that is a good thing.

Don't make the mistake of thinking that all of this silliness is without merit. It keeps some of us sane, allows us to take ourselves less seriously, thus maintaining perspective. You don't have to venture far to see what happens when perspective flies out the window. Check out the General Discussion forum. It's a daily occurrence.

When the need arises, when another DU-er needs support, they go to the Lounge, and the goofballs respond. So it isn't that we've forgotten what's important. In fact, we've got a damn good grasp on it.

Goofiness is more than just surface fun. It's a fucking holy quest.

So, for those of you that don't particularly care for this sort of thing, by all means, use the tools that Skinner has graciously provided to ignore us. 'Cause believe me, it's always been this way, and I don't see it changing.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go off and make myself annoying. Tally-ho!
