4. Graceful indeed ...
I was one of the ones saying that the Olympics this time around were boring . But then as I watched the closing ceremony I asked myself " why did I think it was so boring ? " . And I think its because we have gotten so used to having big sporting events like these where there is always a " headline " or " scandal " out of any little thing , and this time around the media was trying to make the Paul Hamm Gold medal deal a " headline " - but you see that is already forgotten . The Olympics are not meant to be a " headline " or " scandal " - the purpose was to come , particpate , and play fair - and that is what happened - therefore the Athens Games were very graceful ...

Ok I feel like I just wrote something for school there .

5. I'm with you.
I watched stuff like Iceland vs. Korea in handball, Belgian show jumpers, stuff American TV has never shown before because we weren't winning 2,577 medals. It was good, I feel like I expanded my horizons a little, ya know? Your synopsis is accurate, peace is a cliche these days but I felt like a citizen of the world, not just a minion of Bush.

Ok now I'm getting philosophical lol

6. The Olympics were beautiful, during a time when we really needed them to be
Greece gets all the credit. Beautiful land, beautiful people.

I had to wipe away the tears when the little girl blew the flame out. :-(

And, what a punch-in-the-gut it is to have the damned RNC start tomorrow, after two weeks of wonder and accomplishment and grace.

:-(

7. I am with you on everything you said !
I was blown away by the war dance during the ceremony when the male dancers were all in a line . The whole ceremony was beautiful . The wedding dance part was joyous -so many happy faces . What a great thing to see on television these days ! It made me think , wow could we even do that here in America . I hope one day when the Olympics comes back to America that we can put on opening and closing ceremonies as graceful and cultured as the Athens Ceremonies . Way to go Athens Olympic Committee , sorry I doubted you .

Don't remind me : the RNC starts tomorrow .
