The West Wing, - why no summer repeats?
I realise that Sorkin and Schlamme have said they won't be writing for the show next season.

And I'm aware that Martin Sheen's politics have been an irritant for the Network.

Still.

Could these things really be the reason NBC has chosen not to air repeat episodes of one of their best and highest-rated shows? (I know the ratings dropped a tad, but they're still higher than that 'true crime' Law & Order series that was yanked mid-season.

I mean...it's a steady diet of drek out there, why not at least run something the public has shown themselves fond of...?

Not the biggest issue of our times, but one does tend to wonder.

1. I read in TV Guide that the reason some of the dramas were not
being repeated is that the networks would rather show those awful "reality" shows instead, and of course those Law and Order shows. I miss the reruns of my favorite shows, including the West Wing, and also Ed.

2. Well sure, I suppose it's cheaper for them
not having all those pricey residual checks to disburse.

Sheesh.

3. I can identify.
I don't watch that show but I am highly disappointed that my favorite show "Alias" is not showing repeats. Is it really cheaper to pay for sets and salaries and production for hiatus shows than it is to pay royalties? My instinct is its cause they want us to go out and by the DVD sets for each season, plus maybe the summer booty factor, wanting to show off people in bathing suits during the summer months, and then we'll all get serious again in the fall (???).
