Poll question: Favorite Led Zep tune (kudos LynneSin)
Edited on Thu Aug-26-04 05:15 PM by undisclosedlocation
Please don't kill me! I compiled the votes from LynneSin's thread from the other day, and found to my surprise that I don't know Led Zeppelin as well as I thought I did. The leading contenders were mostly songs I didn't actually know, and most of their best-known tunes didn't even place.

Therefore, treat this with whatever sized grain of salt at the moment. Reply with the usual "I can't believe you left 'Stairway to Heaven' off!" type responses and I'll replace non-vote receivers with the most popular about 55 minutes hence. And as ever, I'll fill out the rest of the ballot and add the Other option then, too.

Still, don't sweat it too much; you know "Kashmir" is going to win regardless :)

Here's the actual talley, just to demonstrate who is the most anal-retentive DUer:
Babe I'm Gonna Leave You
Black Dog
Boogie with Stu xx
Bring it on Home xx
Bron-Yr-Aur xx
Carouselambra
Celebration Song
Communication Breakdown xx
Custard Pie
Dazed & Confused xx
Down by the Seaside
Fool In The Rain xxx
Four Sticks
Gallows Pole xxx
Heartbreaker
Hot Dog
How Many More Times
I'm Gonna Leave You
Immigrant Song xx
In my time of dying
In The Evening xxx
In the Light
Kashmir xxxxx
Misty Mountain Hop xx
Moby Dick
No Quarter xxx
Nobody's Fault But Mine xx
Over The Hills And Far Away xx
Out on the Tiles
Ramble On xx
Stairway
Ten Years Gone xx
That's The Way xx
The Lemon Song xx
The Ocean xx
The Rain Song xxxx
The Rover
The Wanton Song
What is and What Should Never Be xx
When The Levee Breaks xxx
White Summer / Black Mountain Side xx
Whole Lotta Love xx
Your Time is going to come

Edit: Took off In the Evening as non-votegetter. Added Stairway, The Ocean, & Black Dog, just sort of because. Jeez, never put up a music thread at 5 pm :)

8. Can't believe the thing came and went with so little hubbub
Did I need to write out "Led Zeppelin," or was it too soon after LynneSin's?

Regardless, great tunes; surprised neither received mention on her thread.

Unless there's a groundswell, I'll just put on Stairway, Black Dog & Other and hit the road

10. Down by the Seaside
by Led Zepplin

Down by the seaside see the boats go sailin
Can the people hear, oh what the little fish are sayin
Oh, oh, the people turned away oh, the people turned away
Down in the city streets see all the folk go racin, racin
No time left, no-no to pass the time of day
Hey, hey, yeah, the people turned away
The people turned away so far away, so far away
See how they run, see how they run
see how they run, see how they run
Run-run, run-run, run-run do you still do the twist
Do you find you remember things that well
I wanna tell you some folk twistin every day
Though sometimes it's awful hard to tell
Ah-ha, ah-ha, ah-ha, oh out in the country
Hear the people singin singin bout their progress
Knowin where they're goin
Yeah, yeah oh, oh, oh, oh, the people turned away
Yes, the people turned away sing loud for the sunshine
Pray hard for the rain and show your love for Lady nature
And she will come back again yes she will, yes she will
Oh, oh, oh, the people turned away
The people turned away don't they know that they're goin

13. Ten Years Gone.
You can smell the reefer coming off that one. If there's one song that makes me remember what it feels like to smoke pot, that's the one.

I think I'll go eat some chips.

21. Am partial to "Over The Hills And Far Away"...
"Over The Hills And Far Away"

Hey lady--you got the love I need
Maybe more than enough.
Oh Darling... walk a while with me
You've got so much...

Many have I loved - Many times been bitten
Many times I've gazed along the open road.

Many times I've lied - Many times I've listened
Many times I've wondered how much there is to know.

Many dreams come true and some have silver linings
I live for my dream and a pocketful of gold.

Mellow is the man who knows what he's been missing
Many many men can't see the open road.

Many is a word that only leaves you guessing
Guessing 'bout a thing you really ought to know, ooh!
You really ought to know...
