These jokers actually thought that people would accept the DivX idea, with a disc that whould only unlock for a limited number of viewings--with a phone line to Big Brother coming out of your player.
We know how that went over.
The thing is, they think they're selling crack.
They think that, if they treat their customers like criminals for copying, that those people will then turn around and buy their stuff legally--because they just gotta, gotta, gotta have it.
Stupid and arrogant.
Steve Jobs showed them you could make money selling music online--but only by backing away from the you-have-no-rights position of the RIAA. It works.
I guess, though, that once you get a taste for door-busting raids, it's kind of hard to shake.
