I’m proud to be an American
Edited on Mon Aug-23-04 10:13 AM by underpants
If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I’d worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.

I’d thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today.
‘ Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can’t take that away.

And I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
From sea to shining sea.

From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart,
and its time we stand and say.

That I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

And I’m proud to be and American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

1. Gawd I hate that song
I'm a Desert Storm 91 veteran and every time I heard that "And I gladly stand up,next to you and defend her still today." sung by a bunch of Right Wing Chickenhawks I could puke.

2. I agree with you
Especially a bunch of people who don't have a clue what it means to sacrifice.

3. Every morning at revelee and every night at taps
At first we (US ARmy 90-93) had to stay in formation. Well I put an end to that toot sweet, I told the platoon Sgt. I didn't have to stand at parade rest or any other way for that matter for that dribble. He agreed and our platoon became the first to fall out after taps (which of course I was glad to lock up for).

4. when the troops were coming home from desert storm
westover air force base which is near my home, was used as a stopping off point for the troops. they encouraged people to come down to greet them. my wife and i did a couple of times and they blasted that song two or three times per flight depending on the size of the contigent landing.
