I keep getting emails for free Ipods, Dell Computers, Cookware, Sony Cams, etc.

What's up with these deals?

1. pyramid schemes
they're semi-legit, but they're pyramid schemes. You sign up for something, and get a set number of friends to sign up, and get your freebie. If one of them gets a similar number of friends to sign up, they get the freebie, etc.

require you to complete a ridiculous amount of deals with their sponsors first. Often as many as 5 or 6.
