Not only is he adorable to look at, but he's such a sweetheart! He gave up his spot in the relay final tomorrow to Ian Crocker (the guy who finished second to Phelps today) so that Ian would have a chance at a gold medal.

What a dreamboat! So unselfish!

doesn't mean he is yet. There are most likely things that seem obvious to someone younger than you that you have yet to discover.

Consider for a moment the fact that Phelps' whole life has been swimming for several years now. He gets more than enough money to be comfortable, and has, as yet, had no reason to explore anything beyond his comfortable little shell.

Some guys in his position would never venture beyond the security of what they know to learn about the suffering that exists in the world today. But I believe Phelps is not like that. I think he's a genuinely good kid who has a lot to learn about the world, and will.
