I was born in Rantoul Illinois, then was gone from Illinois for 15 years (GI brat) before returning for a couple years before I enlisted.

and so I moved at 10 days old. It was the olden days (1949!!!) and mothers spent real time in the hospital after giving birth. In my mother's case, it was a good idea. She lost 27 pounds with the pregnancy (9 months of virtually constant "morning" sickness) and needed the time to recuperate. She had to go home with me and a 4-year-old!!!

Lived there only until I was a month or so shy of 2, then again briefly when I was 11. But my grandparents lived there, and so I visited off and on throughout the 70's, 80's, and 90's.

The main reason I couldn't live there now, gorgeous as the climate is, is the EXPENSE. I have always related better to the west coast, having lived on both coasts for many years each.
