The Nerd Appreciation Thread
I think it's time for a nerd appreciation thread! All you DUers with tape on your glasses, d20s and dozens of action figures still in the boxes ('cuz they're collectibles!), check in! Express some pride. What are some of your best (worst?) nerdy moments, or favorite nerdy things to do?

I love to cosplay. Some might think this a weakness. I think it's a strength. You haven't lived till you've wandered around a hotel at 2 in the morning, in full costume, singing in broken Japanese with 3 other drunks in full costume.

Here's me and my best friend at AnimeNEXT this year:

That's me on the left, in the ginormous dress. It took us six months to make, and we're really proud of it.

Right now I'm working on some new Jedi robes 'cuz my old ones are threadbare. Too many times standing in line all night for movies. :P

3. The lonely nerd girl phenomenon
Believe it or not, there's always been lots of nerd girls, at least when I was in school. I think the difference is we tended not to congregate in herds.

We were the ones sitting in the back of class putting glue on our hands from Lisa Frank bottles and peeling it off after it dried...

That's probably the problem with nerdishness.

If nerds were a species they wouldn't last past the first generation in the wild.

5. LOL
Especially since none of the foods we seem to like come from nature.

Now if somebody found a river that flowed Jolt cola, we'd be in bidness.
