What's the point of non-alcoholic beer?
Edited on Tue Aug-17-04 05:21 PM by Q3JR4
Beer tastes like urine (that's what I've been told), so why drink the non-alcoholic variety if it tastes the same and you aren't going to get anything out of it?

1. It's a fun joke to play on Freshmen.
They act all drunk then you tell them it's non-alcoholic and wait for their reactions.

2. Maybe your subject should read
"What's the point of NON-alcoholic beer"

Alcoholic beer is very good and not only b/c it gives you a buzz. I personally love the taste of beer, it's the only alcohol I usually drink.

3. because some need that drive in them
I personally think NA beer is crap but my dad and granddad need it because they are alcoholics, if they were to drink regular beer, they would cause problems.

6. But NA beer has alcohol in it and is discouraged by AA
it's not alot, but there's like 0.5% alcohol in some of those NA beers. When I use to bartend/waitress, we were not allowed to serve minors NA beer since there was some alcohol content in the beer

8. works for my grandfather
been drinking it since before I was born lynne. My dad just started. Some people they just cant get it out of their system, this is perhaps why Ive considered not drinking much, family history is bad.

7. it really depends
There are NA beers tasting pretty close to the real thing, at least over here. (bitburger, Löwenbrau, Paulaner, Weihenstephan, Erdinger,...)

Then there are the NA malt beers, which are refreshing and have a very distinct taste. This type includes the dark & sweet "Malzbier", basically a drink for kids, and the Dutch Style Malt, which is neither dark nor sweet.

The thing I've never understood is why Clausthaler is sold stateside; that stuff is the worst of them all.

13. I have a friend who is a recovering alcoholic.
He loves beer, so now he drinks the N/A type when he's out on the town. Other than that, I can't see a reason for drinking the stuff.
