Poll question: My "Da Vinci Code" is due Saturday, and I have about 100 chapters to go.
Should I try to finish it?

1. Nah. Or Sure, if you have the extra time...
I really wasn't that impressed. Bad character development. But, the ideas are kinda interesting. Take it or leave it, your life won't necessarily be any better for having finished it.

2. The plot......
is pretty lame. I just finished it last month. Aside from all the backstory about the grail. What happens in the story is pretty much in B movie territory.

6. Don't understand...
...what all the fuss is about this novel.

A) I guessed who the bad guy would turn out to be with more than 100 pages to go.

B) The ending has all the explosiveness of cold oatmeal hitting the floor.

C) The entire premise is a lie. The "Priory of Sion" thing is a 19th century hoax (http://www.alpheus.org/html/articles/esoteric_history/richardson1.html).

D) This is "Ludlum Lite". Not very good Ludlum Lite, either. Too easy to guess where it's going, implausibilities piled on top of each other, no real payoff. The main characters are totally unconvincing.

E) Skip it and read something good.

4. 100 chapters? That's what, 87 pages?

It's the worst book you will ever read, until you read "Digital Fortress" by the same author. :eyes:

Brown's 'experts' are the dumbest ever. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels should play them in the movie. (Jeff could play Sophie in drag)

5. Read Holy Blood, Holy Grail instead
IT's a far superior book and will blow your mind. MOre of the Knights Templar and Holy Grail stuff and none of the lame characters.

7. Of all Brown's books that I have read (all of them, I think)
DaVinci was the weakest. Shows the power of marketing, however.
